This week, Cognite hosted IMPACT, its first user conference, that brought together over 300 participants including industry visionaries, digital leaders, and key users of Cognite software spanning the energy, manufacturing, power, and renewables sectors across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. We engaged in meaningful discussions on how we can collectively drive transformation toward a more reliable, safer, and sustainable future by taking advantage of innovative and advanced technologies like industrial and generative AI, data operations, and robotics. Together, we explored how these innovations can drive significant change at speed and scale.

Girish Rishi, CEO and Chairman of Cognite, opened the conference by emphasizing the urgent need to accelerate digital transformation to reduce carbon emissions, highlighting that our decisions today will impact future generations and the planet. He introduced Cognite's core principles—Relentless Pursuit, Ownership, and Impact—and explained how these principles are foundational to every groundbreaking solution Cognite delivers.
Rishi also invited several leaders collaborating with Cognite, who are envisioning a sustainable future and driving real-world impact by leveraging the power of data and technology to create meaningful change.
Kimberly Mathisen, CEO of HUB Ocean, highlighted the crucial role of oceans in our ecosystem, noting that they absorb 30% of carbon dioxide emissions while facing significant exploitation due to inadequate regulations, overfishing, and more. HUB Ocean's data platform, powered by Cognite Data Fusion®, organizes vital public and private data, enabling diverse stakeholders to collaborate on ocean healing initiatives. In collaboration with companies like TGS and AkerBiomarine, they are paving the way for innovative, data-driven solutions for marine conservation and sustainable fishing.
Kristian Johansen, CEO of TGS, shared valuable insights on how strategic partnerships can drive innovation and successful technology development. He discussed how TGS, one of the largest customers of Google Cloud in both Europe and the US, leverages AI technology through their collaboration with Cognite to efficiently manage their immense data volume and rapidly extract value from data at scale. Johansen highlighted how their partnership with Cognite showcases the power of innovation in optimizing fleet performance, supporting customer growth in their energy supply, and significantly reducing environmental impact.
Paula Doyle, Chief Digital Officer of Aker BP, discussed Aker BP’s visionary Yggdrasil project, which aims to redefine the global energy industry by 2029 through fully unmanned operations driven by real-time data. Doyle highlighted Cognite’s industrial AI and data management capabilities as pivotal elements of this transformation, envisioning a future where sustainability and operational efficiency coexist, meeting the world’s growing energy needs while benefiting the planet.
Matts Johansen, CEO of Aker Biomarine, elaborated on their efforts in sustainable krill harvesting, leveraging predictive machine learning models from Cognite Data Fusion to optimize production. Johansen highlighted the importance of partnerships among Aker BioMarine, HUB Ocean, and Cognite, which is transforming their operations, enhancing production, and streamlining processes, all while ensuring responsible management of marine resources.
The insights shared during the keynote, along with 40 sessions across the two-day conference, were both enlightening and a powerful call to action. Cognite customers discussed how Cognite solutions empowered and united them in their commitment to illuminating the path to energy security, driving a clean energy revolution, and challenging industry norms through digital transformation.
