Oslo, Norway, December 2023 - Cognite, a global leader in industrial software, announced that Kyoto Group has selected Cognite Data Fusion®️, the leading Industrial DataOps platform, to power Kyoto Group's data operations solution. This collaboration is a strategic move that will benefit Kyoto’s customers, optimizing the operation and maintenance of Heatcube thermal batteries to improve operational performance and reduced opex.

Cognite uses Generative AI to enhance data onboarding, complete with lineage, quality assurance, and governance, while a unique generative AI architecture enables deterministic responses from a native AI Copilot. This allows subject matter experts to answer operational questions and analyze complex scenarios without a single line of code. By leveraging Cognite Data Fusion®️ as the foundation for its cloud based solution, Kyoto brings together real-time operational data from the Heatcube Battery Management System with various engineering data sources, ensuring that Kyoto's engineering team receives timely and accurate feedback, enabling quick and precise improvements.

With Cognite Data Fusion®, Kyoto can  deliver  state-of-the-art preventive and predictive maintenance, enabling Kyoto and its customers to stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing energy market.

“Through the seamless integration of Cognite Data Fusion® into Kyoto's DataOps platform, we elevate the digital capabilities of current and upcoming Heatcubes for our customer’s benefit. This positions Heatcube with capabilities to easily integrate with emerging power market players, offering flexibility and potentially new revenue streams for industrial plant owners. Furthermore, the integration will empower our customers to streamline data management and cost optimize operations, enabled by a foundation of best-in-class preventive and predictive maintenance.” – says Kyoto’s Head of Digital Acceleration, Gustavo Zaera.

"Kyoto provides a unique and exciting technology fit to decarbonise industry, and at the same time improves operations of the electricity grid. Cognite is proud to partner with Kyoto and this expands on our strong market position as a technology provider supporting all the different actors in the future energy system”, says Cognite’s President EMEA, Emmanuelle Camus.

About Heatcube
Kyoto Heatcube provides thermal energy storage and heat generation in one product. It supplies industrial customers with the technology needed to lower both their costs for producing process heat and their CO2 emissions using intermittent renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuels for heat production.

Heatcube can be configured with storage capacities from 16 MWh to over 96 MWh, with a discharge effect for each Heatcube of up to 20 MW. It is an innovative, low-cost, and modular storage solution for thermal energy that can use multiple renewable energy sources to heat molten salt to over 415 degrees Celsius. The high-temperature salt is then used to produce steam for industrial production processes.

About Kyoto Group
Heat accounts for two thirds of industrial energy consumption. Traditionally, nearly all of it is based on fossil fuels. Kyoto Group's Heatcube, a thermal energy storage (TES) solution, provides a sustainable and cost-effective alternative by capturing and storing abundant but variable energy from sources such as solar and wind. Founded in 2016, Kyoto Group is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, and has subsidiaries in Spain and Denmark. The Kyoto share is listed on Euronext Growth (ticker: KYOTO).
